Description :

Your broad base of skills and knowledge within Visual Communication is just what we’re looking for to join our team at the School of Art. You will ideally have a subject related postgraduate qualification or an equivalent level of professional experience with experience of teaching in higher education and a preferred specialism within Visual Communication, and an informed understanding of the principles of narrative design.

In their long history, the highly successful BA (hons) Graphic Design and BA (hons) Illustration courses of the Visual Communication programme have attracted generations of new Illustrators and designers from all over the world keen to explore and develop their practice within the field of communication. They have included written and illustrated books for children and adults; games and interactive design; film; stage and exhibition design; animation; graphic design; narrative textiles; ceramics and, performance.

The Illustration and Graphic Design courses share a common framework, which allows the two courses to share many aspects of teaching and studio culture together. As a lecturer you will be working with a research-informed, dedicated and experienced course team, supporting students in the management of projects proposed at interview and developed throughout the course. Students are encouraged in the continual interaction between analysis, research, conceptualisation, testing ideas and practical realisation. You will foster a community spirit while supporting individual endeavour, finding new ways to make the education relevant to very different individuals with a wide range of professional and academic expectations. Your teaching responsibilities will primarily be at Levels 4, 5 or 6 (undergraduate), however some teaching may occasionally be at postgraduate and research levels.

Job sharers welcome.
