Applications are invited for the above non-clinical post based in the University of Nottingham School of Medicine. The successful candidate will assist the Course Director deliver the MMedSci Medical Education curriculum through a variety of teaching and assessment activities and contribute to the ongoing annual quality improvement of the course. The role holder will join a small team and be expected to act as lead for a suite of modules worth at least 40 credits, design course materials and curricula, design and mark assessments and supervise dissertation projects. The role holder will also contribute to the Education Centre ‘train the trainers’ agenda as required. The role holder will also be expected to contribute to research in medical education and publish in peer reviewed journals. 

Main responsibilities include: 

Teaching and marking of assessments (including dissertations) across a range of core and elective modules on the MMedSci/PGDip/PGCert Medical Education programme as required; Blogging (using social media technologies integrated into Moodle Virtual Learning Environment where possible) across modules on the programme; · supervision of students undertaking research on the MMedSci programme; Providing pastoral support in the role of a personal tutor for students on the programme; act as primary academic liaison to the learning community fora and work with student representatives from the programme to seek feedback as part of the ongoing quality improvement process; Coordinate and manage communication with alumni from the programme; Coordinate and manage external relations with teaching associates on the programme; · contribute to interim and final PGT examination boards; ·Contribute to research that is in balance with wider contributions to teaching and other activities, and that is linked to priority areas in the Education Centre. 

Responsibilities will also include facilitating ongoing faculty development as part of the General Medical Council’s Trainers Recognition Scheme in 2016:

Contribute to the ongoing design, (re-)development and delivery (across the academic year) of a Medical Education massive open online course (MOOC); Organise and manage a programme of six ‘Expert Medical Education Masterclasses’ per calendar year; Contribute to the ongoing update of marketing material for the course in partnership with School of Medicine and wider University professional staff. 

The successful candidate must hold a Masters in Medical Education or equivalent in relevant subject area (e.g. education, psychology, sociology). A Higher Education teaching qualification or equivalent and a PhD in Medical Education or equivalent in a relevant subject area are highly desirable. Experience of teaching in a postgraduate context and devising models, approaches, techniques and methods for facilitating scholarship is essential, as is research or scholarship experience within subject specialism.

This permanent post is part-time at 21.75 hours per week, to be agreed.
