Description :

The School of English is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor to take a leading role in developing web-based teaching internationally. This is an exciting investment at the University of Nottingham to re-imagine university teaching for the mid-21st century. We are looking for an exceptional academic with wide interests. You will have an excellent record of teaching and research, and will show innovation in curriculum design and new learning technology. You will be highly adaptable and creative, and will have research and teaching interests that are broader than usual: you will be interested in second language acquisition and English as a foreign literature; you will not be constrained by any single cultural period; you will be equally unafraid of Beowulf and Virginia Woolf; you will be expert in both modern linguistics and literary scholarship; you will have a professional interest in world literatures and their teaching, for example.

Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) in an area related to English language, linguistics and/or literature. Evidence of the ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels on both present and virtual programmes is essential. A proven record of publishing and teaching in multiple or interdisciplinary or comparative areas is essential. An ability to teach and research across a broad range of topics is essential. Evidence of the ability to generate research grant income would also be an advantage.

This is a full-time, permanent post available from 1 September 2018 based in the School of English, Trent Building, University Park, Nottingham. Job share arrangements may be considered.
