As part of the growth and development of our Counselling provision, we are looking for a highly motivated lecturer to join us in delivering our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and to contribute to our high quality research profile. The post holder will become part of a friendly, hard-working and dedicated team of academics, who deliver certificate, BACP accredited diploma and MSc level Psychotherapeutic counselling courses, as well as counselling and psychology modules on a BPS accredited Psychology and Counselling degree course at undergraduate level. The post holder will also take responsibility for acting as a programme advisor to one of a number of Colleges who deliver counselling courses in partnership with the University.

Applications are sought from very enthusiastic, team-orientated, flexible individuals with excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and presenting skills.  The counselling team covers a range of counselling theoretical approaches, practice and research interests in a team approach to teaching and learning. We are ideally looking for a person with experience in integrated counselling and different therapy modalities.

As a member of a team delivering teaching on professional counselling courses we are looking for someone currently in practice as a counsellor, therapist or supervisor, who is a member of a professional counselling body (e.g. BACP or UKCP), engaging in regular professional development in line with ethical guidelines of the professional organization. Ideally we would like someone with practice and/or teaching experience in counselling using an integrative approach of different therapy modalities. Courses are taught and assessed through a variety of interactive activities, including personal development groups; experience of group facilitation would be helpful in this part of the job.

Applicants should have an (accredited by BPS) undergraduate degree in Psychology, and MSc in Counselling or Counselling Psychology and relevant professional experience.  Some evening and weekend teaching (Saturday workshops 4 times per year, residential weekend annually) will be required within the role.

This role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. 

Interviews are likely to take place on the 16 and 18 July.
