The National Centre for Food Manufacturing is rapidly establishing a reputation as a leading research and demonstrator unit for the applications for robotics and automation and other advanced food manufacturing technologies. We require a Senior Technician with a background in food manufacturing/food engineering and an aptitude for technology to oversee the operation of our food factory training and research centre and support our students and industry customers. The role would very much suit an industry professional, with extensive practical experience and an interest in robotics and automation who is looking for a change of career. 

A satellite campus of the University of Lincoln, The National Centre for Food Manufacturing is a major resource for the UK’s food industry with over 250 major companies accessing courses, technical services and research.  Our clients include the major national and global food manufacturing businesses and leading supermarkets and we collaborate with many international partners and universities. The NCFM has outstanding sector-focused facilities, including a state-of-the-art food factory demonstrating cutting edge food automation. 

Running the factory centre is a key focus of the role. The role is varied and involves commissioning plant and equipment and ensuring its effective operation, supporting trials, assisting with the management of health and safety and instructing students on occasions. All of NCFM’s students are employed in the food industry and study on a part-time basis, with distance learning supported by block release the platform for delivery. 

The NCFM partners with a wide range of suppliers of equipment and technologies to the sector and the post holder will play a key role in building and fostering partnerships with our industrial partners and sponsors.

It is expected that the post holder will have an up-to-date knowledge of food factory operations and be familiar with a wide range of food processes and automation. 

This position does not fulfil the UK Visas & Immigration sponsorship criteria for Tier 2.
