Located at our Falmer site, just five miles from Brighton’s stunning sea front and vibrant city centre, the School of Education is one of the largest providers of education and training for student teachers, teachers and other professionals in the Higher Education sector.

In this pivotal role you will oversee the administrative interface between the School’s support and teaching staff, central departments and external bodies, ensuring the needs of the School, its students and the wider University are met.  As a member of the School Management Board you will represent the School at appropriate meetings, both within the university and externally.

You will line manage support staff, ensuring high levels of commitment, performance and professionalism and be involved in a wide range of HR matters including recruitment, induction, staff development and performance issues.  Overseeing the financial, strategic and physical resources in the School is also an important aspect of this role.

Experience of administrative management in a complex and large institution is essential, along with experience of financial / budget management and high levels of numeracy and literacy with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear, appropriate and understandable way to a variety of audiences. 

A proven ability to achieve objectives through induction, motivation, continuous development and teamwork and the ability to identify and negotiate acceptable solutions to conflicts of interest are also required.
