Description :

The successful candidate will play an important and active part in developing our Painting subject area, working with students and colleagues to realise a collective vision that will take the course forward in its next iteration. Central to this will be the ability to build a peer learning community which is both supportive and stable and at the same time challenging, vibrant and dynamic.

This will involve emphasis on personal support and being the main and visible point of contact for a year group. We expect the successful applicant to have proven organisational skills and be able to design teaching materials, identify areas where current provision is in need of revision or improvement, supervise student projects, and field trips.

You will have an established research led practice that demonstrates a significant contribution to the field of contemporary painting. You will have a thorough knowledge of practice-based painting skills and a good understanding of methods and materials, an interest/awareness in expanded notions of painting as a contemporary art form, and be aware of the relationship between practice, research and theory.  You will be able to lead tutorials, deliver lectures and conduct seminar groups. The role will also include formative and summative assessment responsibilities and engagement in all aspects of course promotion and admissions.

Painting is one of four subject disciplines within the undergraduate programme of Fine Art: Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture and Critical Practice. There are also two postgraduate awards: MA Fine Art and MA Inclusive Arts Practice. You will be based at our campus at Grand Parade in the city centre, a hub for the university’s creative courses, ground-breaking exhibitions and international research.

Job sharers welcome.
