Description :

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced Careers professional to provide innovative, tailored careers, employability and work related learning support for all students and graduates across the institution, with a specialism in international students.

As Faculty Partner for the Faculty of Science and Technology, and with a specific departmental caseload, you will work with Associate Deans, Heads of Departments and academic staff to design, deliver and assess employability education at undergraduate and postgraduate level on campus and via distance learning.

You will be an excellent negotiator with the ability to interpret and communicate internal management intelligence and graduate labour market information to develop effective working partnerships with academic colleagues to agree departmental career and employability plans. You will be confident in negotiating levels of provision and measureable targets in line with institutional strategy, and ensuring that these are met in the time agreed. You will need to demonstrate innovation and creativity to meet increasing demand for careers and employability input in departments with existing resources.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, and ideally with a teaching qualification in Higher Education, you will be experienced in teaching careers, employability and work related learning in HE. You should ideally have an appropriate careers qualification and experience of providing one to one careers guidance, which is a significant part of the role.

You will possess excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to prioritise a demanding and varied workload. Interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders are essential as you will engage with employers, organise career events and work closely with departmental academic colleagues to ensure a differentiated approach to careers and employability. You will embrace our team culture and be demonstrably willing to volunteer across teams and services to support colleagues and enhance your own professional development.

You will have an innovative, engaging and effective professional approach. Your previous experience will have equipped you for adapting flexibly to this role and you will be someone who thrives on change and seeks new challenges. Occasional out of hours work will be required. Some national and international travel may also be required.

This is to be appointed on a full time, fixed term basis until 2 December 2019 in the first instance.
