The Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences are looking to recruit a Technician to support a wide range of teaching and research activities within the School of Psychology.

Working closely with key academics, as part of a small technical team; this position will provide practical, hands-on support in the design and manufacture/assembly of novel materials within the school as well as routine training and maintenance of existing equipment.

Candidates for this post are expected to have some familiarity with mechanical/electronic engineering, experience with software/hardware interactivity, a pragmatic and practical approach and a broad technical skillset.

The primary focus of this job role is the safe, effective running of the psychology laboratories. This will involve training staff/students users in the use of specialist equipment (Tobii Eye-trackers, BioPac wearable devices, A/V recording equipment, etc), controlling access to the lab spaces, maintaining equipment and exploring new hardware/software solutions in support of academic endeavours.

Adhering to current health and safety legislation and best practice at all times, you will be well-organised, proactive and diligent. You will also be a good communicator and prepared to work flexibly. An understanding of GDPR and experience of working with confidential/sensitive data and/or disquieting materials would be desirable for this role.
