We are offering an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team within the University of Surrey’s Doctoral College. The Doctoral College is a new initiative that was established to support the academic and professional development of postgraduate and early career researchers and to ensure our world-leading research continues to grow.

A strategic objective of the University’s Research Strategy is to increase the number of postgraduate research students over the next five years. To support this objective, the University has increased its financial investment in doctoral funding opportunities and is engaging with a growing number of UKRI-funded Doctoral Training Partnerships. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation of studentship competitions across the University to ensure that they are timely, well-promoted, maximise the opportunity to leverage external funding, and offer a premium service to funding applicants and prospective supervisors. Furthermore, the role will include representing the University at a senior level within Doctoral Training Partnership consortia and managing the legacy ESRC South East DTC.

A good team player, you will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and a keen eye for detail. You will be required to independently drive forward plans for studentship competitions and work closely with staff across a range of academic and professional services departments including academic Faculties and departments, the Research Degrees Office, and Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions.

To be successful in this role you will have strong team skills, excellent organisational and planning skills and strong attention to detail.

The post is currently fixed-term until July 2019 with the possibility of being made permanent.
