Description :

The University of Surrey is a global university with a world-class research profile and an enterprising spirit. Inventive and forward thinking, Surrey has ambitions to be one of the world’s leading universities and was recently placed as the 4th best UK University in the Guardian league tables.

The University is currently ranked second for graduate employability amongst chartered universities in England, and has about 1,000 students a year who participate in the University’s Professional Training placement programme.

The Directorate of Employability and Careers brings together colleagues who work in the Employability and Careers Service and the administrative team that support the University’s well-known Professional Training placements programme.

We are seeking applications from motivated and dynamic individuals to the post of Professional Training and Employability Administrative Assistant with immediate effect.

Possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills, you will have previous experience of working in an administrative environment and ideally experience of working in the Higher Education Sector. You will demonstrate good IT skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and under pressure. Excellent inter-personal skills and a pro-active approach are essential, together with accuracy and a keen eye for detail.

The post holder will be part of the team responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Professional Training student placements programme, for liaising with academic Senior Tutors, and providing administrative support for the assessment of students on placement. You will be actively involved in helping to achieve greater efficiencies in the running of the programme and increasing the number of students and employers participating on the programme. Furthermore, the post holder may assist, where required, with making travel bookings and reservations, keeping records, servicing meetings, dealing with pay claims and purchase orders.

You will also be involved in working directly with students and supporting colleagues in the Employability and Careers Service, including supporting student-facing functions and the data collection process for the Graduate Outcomes Survey. The ultimate aim of this post is to increase the employability of Surrey Graduates.

In addition to your salary you will receive a generous annual leave entitlement, pension provision and excellent development opportunities. Our benefits package also includes an exclusive discounted membership package to the Surrey Sports Park and an on-site Nursery.

Any interested party is welcome to contact the Professional Training and Employability Manager, Mr. Mike Higgins (m.higgins@surrey.ac.uk), to discuss any specific aspects of the role.
