An opportunity exists to work with the Surrey Ion Beam Centre as a Liaison Fellow in the application of ion beam analysis using RBS, PIXE and other complementary measurements. Reporting to the Director of Technology, the post will be responsible for attracting new users to exploit the ion beam analysis facilities at the UK National Ion Beam Centre at the University of Surrey.

The successful candidate will design and complete experiments necessary to collect data from users’ samples, analyse the data and then provide detailed reports about the results. Applicants should have an outgoing and engaging personality and feel comfortable talking to potential users about how the facilities might be used to augment their existing research projects. A good understanding of experimentation, ion beam analysis and computer simulation will be required and an appreciation for the usefulness of these techniques to diverse problems in a wide range of industrial and academic applications.

Please note, it is University Policy to offer a starting salary equivalent to Level 3.6 (£30,688) to successful applicants who have been awarded, but are yet to receive, their PhD certificate.  Once the original PhD certificate has been submitted to the local HR Department, the salary will be increased to Level 4.1 (£31,604).
