Description :

Lancaster University Law School wishes to recruit an ambitious Lecturer in Private Law. You will have established yourself in academia through the publication of work that is recognised as at least internationally excellent. You will ideally have experience of seeking research income, or have plans in place to make research bids, and recognise the importance of external engagement. All aspects of private law will be considered although an interest in teaching or researching Contract Law or the Law of Equity & Trusts would be an advantage.

Lancaster University Law School is one of the leading law schools in the UK. It has more than doubled in size over the past four years and has recently refreshed its curriculum at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We have recently launched a highly successful Law Clinic, that offers free legal advice to the local community and we have plans to expand on this. We have also recently opened a £350,000 digital mock court room.

The Law School currently has 50 academic staff and is committed to having a positive impact on people's lives as well as academic excellence – over 80% of the department's research was rated as being internationally excellent or world leading in the 2014 Research Assessment Exercise.

Staff in the School continue to benefit from Lancaster’s strong commitment at institutional and School level to the provision of an environment that encourages and supports research. The Law School has retained a friendly, co-operative ethos that promotes collaborative working and the sharing of research experiences. Research is supported through a personal research allowance, a separate fund for participation in conferences, a structured and supported staff development programme (including regular writing retreats), the allocation of a personal research mentor and ongoing sabbatical leave. You will also be supported to seek promotion.
