Applications are invited for the role of Head of Operations with the University of Nottingham’s Rights Lab (www.nottingham.ac.uk/world/beacons/rights-lab/), a Beacon of Excellencethat is delivering research to help end contemporary slavery and is attached to the Faculty of Social Sciences. The Rights Lab is home to the world's leading contemporary slavery experts and is delivering the world's first large-scale research platform for ending slavery. The Sustainable Development Goals call for an end to slavery by 2030. With governments and NGOs, we are designing new research-led antislavery interventions to help achieve this. 

The role-holder will provide administrative leadership and management to ensure the successful delivery of the Rights Lab programme. She/he will implement the Rights Lab’s delivery plan, establish and deliver the necessary policies, procedures and structures for the Rights Lab’s smooth and efficient running, and work with academic colleagues to develop, operationalise, and monitor the Rights Lab’s strategic direction. The role-holder will coordinate with appropriate staff and stakeholders to achieve high performance and effective operational delivery of plans and projects, ensuring that they are aligned to the Faculty and University strategic and operational requirements. He/she will take a lead with the Rights Lab Director on budgetary, resource and operation planning, policy and implementation, monitoring, and data management across all activities. 

The role-holder will actively engage and work closely with Rights Lab research projects across all five faculties but in particular the faculty of Social Sciences (where most project teams are based). He/she will report to the Rights Lab Director and have dotted reporting lines to the Faculty Director of Operations and to Research & Innovation. She/he will work with a wide range of individuals in aligned Faculties and Schools and Professional Service Units, and will be expected to act as a representative for the Rights Lab internally and externally. The role-holder will possess a track record of successful operations management, and be able to manage a portfolio of large-scale partnerships and projects. He/she will be entrepreneurial and self-motivated, and will have vision and strong relationship-building skills. 

This is a fixed-term post until 31 July 2022 which is available from 1 September 2018. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week); however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week), job share arrangements may also be considered. Please specify in your application if you wish to work part-time and the number of preferred hours.
