Applications are invited for a Senior Qualitative Research Fellow based at the NIHR Research Design Service for the East Midlands (RDSEM). 

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced qualitative researcher with a strong background in the design, conduct, analysis and reporting of qualitative research studies to join a team of RDS advisors who provide methodological support and advice to researchers developing high quality applied health or social care research applications for submission to national peer reviewed funding streams.  

The successful candidate will be expected to provide high quality advice and support on grant applications, including general advice as well as specialist methodological advice. They will also be expected to contribute to other activities such as the delivery of funding awareness seminars and other learning events, staff development sessions and project review group panel meetings. They may also be required to represent the RDS at various meetings, local conferences, etc. It is likely there will be opportunities for the candidate to undertake collaborative research alongside their RDS role to enable them to maintain their own research profile. 

The candidate should have a PhD in a subject that is relevant to applied health services research. Training and skills in research methods and high level methodological skills in qualitative methods are required, and evidence of significant research experience of designing and conducting qualitative research in an applied health research setting. Applicants must demonstrate breadth and depth in their specialist area. 

It is essential for the candidate to have the ability to communicate well with researchers and to be a good team player.  

This is a part-time post (21.75 hours per week) offered on a fixed-term contract from 1 October 2018 until 30 September 2023.
