An exciting opportunity has arisen at Teledyne e2v’s RF Power Division in Chelmsford for an ambitious PhD qualified graduate (or near to completion), to develop innovative, world leading high power industrial microwave generators for large scale microwave processing. 

Qualifications we require:

This a highly technical project. You will hold an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in an Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a PhD (or equivalent) in Power Electronics/Control of Power Electronics (preferable).

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

•Advanced knowledge of the operation and control of Power Electronics Circuits 

• Knowledge of Control Theory (Undergraduate Degree Level)

• Experience with industry standard software for power electronics simulation (e.g. PLECS, MATLAB)

• Practical, hands on experience in the design, construction and testing of electrical/electronic circuits

• Practical knowledge of real time programming (especially using C Language) and implementation using

DSP/Microcontrollers.

Desirable knowledge and experience:

• Relevant industry experience (including work placements) in an engineering environment 

• Ability to plan a project, execute the plan, and make adjustments according to delays and technical issues

The successful candidate must possess:

• Excellent oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information with clarity

• Self-starting and pro-active, and with the ability to work in a team to meet deadlines and to prioritise tasks

• Enthusiasm, motivation and drive to embed new knowledge and to take full ownership of the project in all respects.

• Awareness and understanding of the commercial drivers.

This full time position will be offered on a 24 month fixed term contract, with a £4,000 dedicated training budget tailored towards your personal development.
