This is an exciting opportunity for a high calibre researcher with a strong national reputation in clinical trial research to join an expanding team within the Nottingham Clinical Trials Unit (NCTU). This post is one of two new Assistant Professor posts funded as part of substantial investment by the University of Nottingham and the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust in the NCTU and the new NIHR Biomedical Research Centre in Nottingham. This post offers an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to play a key role in establishing the NCTU and Nottingham an international centre of excellence in clinical trials and translational research.

The successful candidate is expected to have a growing research record and reputation, proven expertise in clinical trial research, and a record in securing grant funding. The post holder will be part of a multidisciplinary NCTU project development team that supports chief investigators in identifying pathways to take ideas from early stages through to definitive trial protocols, and preparing high quality grant applications to do this. Over time, s/he will be expected to develop a portfolio of trial methodology-related research.

Candidates should have PhD or equivalent high level research experience in clinical trials, medical statistics or health services research. The successful candidate must have excellent knowledge and expertise in the design, conduct and delivery of trials and application of innovative trial methods. The successful candidate is expected to have a emerging leadership skills, as well as evidence of publication in high impact journals and of securing grant funding. In addition, an ability to communicate and work effectively across different disciplines is essential.

This is a full-time post (36.25 hours per week), preferably, however application are invited from candidates wanting to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).Please indicate on your application if you wish to be considered for this role on a part-time basis.
