The School of English is seeking to appoint a Teaching Associate in Medieval Language and Literature to provide cover for staff on research leave. The successful candidate must be versatile and able to cover a substantial period of pre-modern literary history, but will have particular expertise in Middle English. He or she will undertake teaching in the areas of Medieval English and related topics in the School of English, and will contribute more widely to the School’s teaching and research activities. 

Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant area of Medieval English, as well as having university teaching experience. Evidence of the ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels on live and distance programmes is essential, covering all of the following topics: Old English language and literature, Old Norse literature, and Middle English / Older Scots literature. The candidate may be required to teach some Shakespeare.

This is a part-time, fixed-term post for 17.5 hours per week from 1 September 2018 to 30 June 2019 based in the School of English, Trent Building, University Park.

The interview process will include a presentation of teaching and a formal interview.
