The School of Education at The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus invite formal applications for appointment of Assistant Professor in Centre for English Language and Foundation Education (with specialisation in TESOL or General Education)

The role holder will be expected to make a significant contribution to the work of the School of Education and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and to scholarship in these areas. He/she will hold a leadership position in the School of Education and provide effective leadership to the School.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for strategic development and planning at the Centre in the School and in the wider University and will liaise with the International Office and relevant external organisationsResponsible for the quality assurance of courses/programmes offered by the Centre, the maintenance and enhancement of high quality teaching, and the ongoing curriculum development of programmesWork collaboratively with the Heads of CELE and Foundation programmes at the Ningbo and UK campuses to develop a whole-school, cross-university strategy for educationResponsible for the professional development of the academic team attached to the Centre, annual performance reviews of staffAssist the Head of School in budget, staffing and recruitment decisionsContribute to teaching education modules in Foundation in Arts and Education programme as well as in the undergraduate and post-graduate programmes offered in the School of Education 

Job Requirements

Postgraduate degree in English language education (preferably a PhD). Preference will be given to those who have membership of a professional body, where appropriate and those with Higher Education Teaching qualification or equivalent.Extensive teaching experience with an established reputation in the field of English language education, preferably with previous experience in the development of policy and administrative matters within a University. A proven record of excellence in teaching; evidence of innovation in curriculum development, course design and course delivery; commitment to delivery of quality services to students, preferably with good understanding of University management systems and the wider higher education environment. Extensive experience in developing and devising new teaching programmes, models, techniques and methods. Previous experience of the supervision and pastoral care of students at all levels. Proven record of promoting and maintaining collaborative links with industry/business/ community.Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly. Ability to design and deliver innovative teaching and learning programmes Proven ability to provide effective leadership and management of both staff and studentsProven ability to plan and deliver complex programmes that meet the needs of both the University of Nottingham and of external agencies.
