Description :

Are you in the final year of your PhD at the University of Leeds and do you have an interest in commercially focused research? Can you undertake collaborative simulation projects with external organisations?

You will undertake applied research work on behalf of Procter and Gamble (P&G) and funded through a research grant to the University of Leeds. The work that will be undertaken will be agreed jointly between the Simulation Centre Manager, the Investigators on the Project and a nominated problem owner at P&G. Typically this will involve undertaking numerical simulations with a view to identifying improvements to products and processes produced and operated by P&G. It will be necessary to contribute to the precise scoping of the project, to undertake the research work under the guidance of the Simulation Centre Manager and to deliver written and verbal reports on the progress made and the results obtained.

The University of Leeds has received research funding from Procter and Gamble to create a new Leeds-P&G Simulation Centre. This Centre will provide an opportunity for our graduate students to undertake contract research work for P&G on a part-time, hourly-paid, basis. This post is for one of these part-time roles, focusing on compiling and analysing technical product performance data and consumer acceptance data with the objective to quantify the relationships/correlations between the two types of data sets. You will undertake this work based in the Leeds Innovation Centre, located adjacent to the University of Leeds campus, though some visits to P&G sites will be expected. You will be provided with suitable training to undertake the project and are therefore asked to commit to engage with the project for a period of at least six months, at up to 20 hours per week.

This will be an hourly paid role (up to 20 hours per week) that would be ideal for a student in the writing up year of their PhD studies. It will provide excellent employment experience, working closely with a commercial customer, and building upon the research skills that will have been developed throughout the prior period of research study.
