The Sensory Biology and Bioacoustics lab (SBBL) at the University of Lincoln, UK  is looking for a Research Technician to work in an ERC Consolidator Award project entitled 'The Insect cochlea: a non-invasive path towards enhanced sound detectors'. 

Main Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining all the insect colonies, this includes regular filling, feeding/cleaning sheets, egg separation and monitoring of colony generations
  • Effective communication with supervisor and any lab or team member where required
  • Preparing specimens for laser/bioacoustics experiments, micro CT scanning, or Ca++ Imaging.
  • Ensuring all equipment (e.g., microphones, acoustic amplifiers) is operating in good order and kept in calibration according to the required schedule.
  • Understanding all the relevant SBBL procedures for sound, and laser recordings.

  Minimum Education and Experience:
  • BSc Degree in science or related qualification, or equivalent
  • Experience working with insects, sound recording, and/or laser will be preferred
  • Practical understanding of laboratory equipment
  • Excellent communication, time management and prioritisation skills
  • A flexible approach to working and ability to work with others to achieve objectives.
