Description :

Lancaster is firmly established as one of the country’s top research-intensive universities and is strongly committed to the idea that research should make a difference (have ‘impact’) beyond academia. The academic research community at Lancaster acts on this commitment in diverse, imaginative and impactful ways. Over a sustained period, the University has performed strongly in UK research ranking exercises.

In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), 83% of its research was rated as world leading (35%) or internationally excellent (48%).

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small team of professionals supporting research impact at Lancaster. The REF Impact Support Officer will work closely with the Impact Development Manager, faculty Research Excellence Framework (REF) leads and impact case study authors, supporting both the Faculty of Health and Medicine and Lancaster University Management School in preparing impact cases for the Research Excellence Framework submission.

Reporting to the Impact Development Manager, you will assist with the production of high-quality impact case studies for REF, including identifying, developing, maintaining and evidencing impact. You will support and collaborate with departments, engagement teams, faculty leads and other data holders to gather impact information for REF Environment Statements.

You will have experience of working in a research environment, ideally within Higher Education (HE) and knowledge of the research policy funding landscape in HE, particularly in relation to research impact, is desirable. Experience of qualitative research data collection, analysis, and the ability to interpret data and information from a wide variety of sources, to organise and manage data and information and report on findings to the relevant audience is essential. An ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professional with the external collaborators and research ‘end-users’ will be important.

This role would suit an excellent communicator with a pro-active approach and the ability to plan and manage time and conflicting priorities.

The role is part of the Research and Enterprise Services (RES) division but will be located within the faculty. Informal enquiries may be directed to Ross Dachraoui (r.dachraoui@lancaster.ac.uk ). It is anticipated that interviews will be held mid-August.
