Applications are invited for the above post based in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nottingham. The successful candidate will be required to carry out experimental research and development of quantum sensors based on atomic ensembles in the context of the UK National Quantum Technology Hub on Sensors and Metrology. The project will focus on quantum light-matter interaction and atom interferometry. Preparation of scientific publications, assistance in the supervision of younger colleagues and general tasks in the research group are part of the responsibilities.

Candidates should have a PhD, or be near completion, in physics or a related discipline. Candidates should have a robust background in experimental atomic physics and/or quantum optics and ideally have experience with matterwave interferometry and/or quantum light-matter interaction. They should be confident, organised, have good communication skills and enjoy working in a team.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 30 November 2019. Hours of work are full-time, however job share arrangements may be considered.
