Description :

We are looking for an enthusiastic intern to join our friendly and dynamic small animal anaesthesia team. Currently, the team consists of an ECVAA diplomate, one board eligible anaesthetist, one senior anaesthetist, one ECVAA resident, three interns and several anaesthesia technicians. Although functionally separated, the Small Animal Anaesthesia Department has close connections with the Equine Anaesthesia Department where another two ECVAA diplomates are employed.

Primarily, the work will consist of contribution to the high level of patient care during the peri-operative period. Our case load is quite varied, and consists of surgical patients, patients undergoing diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, scintigraphy, ultrasound, radiography), and radiation therapy. We also anaesthetise patients for minimal invasive cardiovascular procedures, and occasionally birds and other animals for our Exotics Department.

The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the education of our master students, not only in their practical skills but also in advancing their veterinary knowledge by providing tutorials to small groups of students. Participation in an out-of-hours anaesthesia service will be part of the duties, with appropriate back up during the first period of employment.

Our Small Animal Veterinary Department provides a wide variety of clinical cases in terms of species, pathology and procedures for the intern to gain experience of the practical and theoretical aspects of veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia. Journal clubs, tutorials and lecture presentations are regularly held in all aspects of anaesthesia, analgesia and other relevant topics.
