Our research ambitions can be summarised by the phrase “better, bigger, broader, bolder" and we are investing significantly in recruiting high performing academic staff; funding doctoral students fees and stipends and investing in research infrastructure and systems. The Research Office is an integral part of the Research, Innovation & Enterprise (RIE) professional services department and is led by the Director of Research. The Research Office teams support all aspects of research including the development of research funding opportunities; longitudinal support "from idea to impact" for research-active academic staff; life cycle support for University's doctoral student community and optimisation of research excellence and research impact for REF2021. Our team of Research Development and Support Officers (RDSO) work in partnership with academic staff across our Faculties to develop research opportunities; secure research funding; support in-life delivery of research activities and maximise opportunities for dissemination; public engagement and impact. We are investing in research support capacity and have a vacancy for an additional Research Development and Support Officer to work with the existing Research Development and Support Team matrix. The successful candidates will be educated to a first degree level or have an equivalent combination of professional qualifications and skills. Prior experience of supporting the development of applications for research funding and supporting the various phases of research project delivery is essential, gained within the Higher Education, private or public sectors. An understanding of UK research policy in the HE context; the assessment of research excellence and the UK and EU research innovation funding landscape would be advantageous, as would experience of partnership working with academic staff to identify; develop and implement research projects. The location should be will be based predominately in the city centre but some flexibility may be required. As part of your application, ensure you attach your CV & Covering Letter.
