Applications are invited for the post of Associate Professor in Composites Manufacturing to work in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering and Composites Research Group in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham.

The Composites Research Group has 9 members of academic staff and over 30 researchers.The Group has a large portfolio of research funding and in particular leads the EPSRC Future Composites Manufacturing Hub which is running from 2017 to 2024.There is also significant funding from the Technology Strategy Board - Innovate UK, the EU through Horizon 2020 and industry both in the UK and internationally.Following the promotion of 

Professor Andy Long to Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost of the University of Nottingham, we wish to recruit two new associate professors in composites manufacturing to strengthen our research base.

The successful applicants will have a national and growing international reputation and be active in research in the field of composites manufacturing to complement activities in the EPSRC Future Composites Manufacturing Hub. Specifically the applicants will be expert and active in the materials and processes applicable to the aerospace and/or automotive sector. Areas of interest to the Group are in (i) high rate deposition and rapid processing technologies, (ii) design for manufacture via validated simulation, (iii) multi-functional composites and integrated structures, (iv) inspection and in-process evaluation and (v) recycling and re-use.

The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering in the areas of mechanical, manufacturing and aerospace engineering.

Develop and sustain an ongoing reputation as a research leader in composites manufacturingCollaborate widely and contribute to the development of research strategies and generate research income within the Faculty of Engineering.Publish research results in leading high quality internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals.Contribute to curriculum development and the delivery of teaching and learning within the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering.Provide academic and organisational leadership to those working in the Faculty of Engineering.

These are permanent full-time posts, however job share arrangements may be considered.
