The School of Psychology at University of Southampton is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in social psychology to join our group of world class researchers and educators in the Centre for Research on Self and Identity (CRSI). The applicant should be able to evidence excellence in teaching, and have a growing national/international track record in research as evidenced by publications/grant seeking that is commensurate with their level of appointment.

The applicant’s interests will complement the broad range of research activity within CRSI, which is committed to theory development, evaluation, and application. The CRSI is eclectic in its approach, adopting a variety of perspectives: motivation, emotion, social cognition, existentialism, social development, close relationships, group processes, social neuroscience, and advanced multivariate quantitative methods. In addition to national and international collaborations, we enjoy long-standing research links with colleagues across Psychology and the University, including those in Psychiatry, Medicine, Health Sciences, Biological Sciences and Social Sciences. 

Our research facilities are recognised as internationally world leading/excellent (REF2014) and include laboratories for social interaction and behavioural observation, neuropsychological/cognitive testing, child/family, couple and marital studies, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), psychophysiology, eye-tracking, virtual reality, and psychopharmacology. Our work attracts significant funding from a variety of external sources.
