EDUCATION AND TRAINING COORDINATOR

One of the aims of the Faraday Battery Challenge is to create and secure high value UK jobs in research, development, and manufacture of batteries throughout the supply chain.

The Faraday Institution is hiring an Education and Training Coordinator to manage all day-to-day activities related to our energy storage and STEM-related educational programmes, which extend from undergraduate, graduate, through postgraduate PhD awards and courses, to continuing professional development (CPD) for research associates and staff.

Reporting directly into the Head of Engagement and Education, the Education and Training Coordinator will be responsible for working with our partners to provide quality training courses that are designed, delivered or endorsed by the FI for the following cohorts:

The students will join their universities in 4 annual cohorts of around 25 people, with each student studying for 4 years for their PhD. The Education and Training Coordinator will ensure that students receive quality training in general subjects as a complete cohort and be segmented into groups for training in specialist subjects. Each cohort will receive a total of 4 weeks of training each year for 4 years.

He/she will coordinate a mix of lectures, seminars, workshops and industrial visits, working with the Head of Engagement and an external group of university and industry advisers (the Training and Diversity Panel).

Other responsibilities will include the maintenance of the Education and Training area of the FI website, to publicise the work done by the students, and liaison with the Energy Storage Research Network (ESRN) to maintain a database of live job opportunities and events on the FI website.

Liaise with the Head of Engagement and Education and Head of Programme Management where necessary to ensure that training and dissemination of results is carried out smoothly.

About the successful candidate

The Education and Training Coordinator will possess strong organizational skills, a strong understanding of breadth of educational methods and offerings (on line, on the job, blended learning, etc.), an understanding of funding sources available to companies and universities for training, an ability to build coalitions across different institutions. Experience in education or the sciences is preferred.
