The Counselling and Mental Health service within the Directorate of Student Services, is seeking to appoint two experienced and enthusiastic people to join our outstanding team of Mental Health Advisers.  There are two exciting new roles available and applicants who have a preference for one particular role should make this clear in their application.

The Mental Health Adviser -  PGR will work closely with the Doctoral College and the Students’ Union to develop services that address mental health issues in the Post graduate Research area. The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist advice, guidance and information to students; advising staff on all areas related to student mental health; delivering training to both staff and student groups; and contributing to the development of policies and procedures that enhance the doctoral student experience.The Mental Health Adviser - Disability will work closely with the Disability Service and academic departments to develop services for disabled students with ongoing mental health issues.   The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist advice, guidance and information to students; advising staff on all areas related to student mental health; delivering training to both staff and student groups; and contributing to the development of policies and procedures that enhance the student experience..

Successful applicants will have significant experience of working with adults with varied mental health conditions, experience in risk assessment and management and good knowledge of the support requirements for students in higher education.  You will be a confident and exceptional communicator who has a proven track record in finding innovative solutions to complex problems;  and will be contribute to duty and other core business as part of the mental health team.  You should have a degree or equivalent in an appropriate field and evidence of relevant professional qualification/training relating to mental health.

The position will involve flexible working hours (between the hours of 8am-7pm) and occasional weekends as and when required.

The successful applicant will be subject to an enhances Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
