Description :

Thank you for taking an interest in Staffordshire University! During the last couple of years, we’ve embarked on an ambitious and unique transformation in the Higher Education Sector where we’ve set out our stall to become the UK’s leading Digital University. This isn't just talk; we're putting in real changes to our environment, changes which companies like Microsoft are talking about on a global stage.

As part of this story we need to build new capability to support our Digital Vision and we are now expanding our core skills with some new Developer roles, positions which we need to fill urgently. If you’re ready to make a difference to our Higher Education environment, be ambitious, brilliant and innovative, we think our Senior Solutions Developer role with Staffordshire University is the way forward.

Working within the Digital Solutions Team you will be directly involved in building our Digital Vision as well as growing your own skills, knowledge and experience. We’ll pay you a starting salary of at least £33,518 per year (dependent on experience), a high quality pension, along with all of the usual employee benefits such as 37 days annual leave (PLUS bank holidays). You'll be our Developer Lead, so confidence and creativity is a must as well as being approachable and likeable. We have a fantastic team already, so personality fit is very important to us.

We've already been busy changing our environment at pace, embracing an agile mentality, Cloud based services for our infrastructure and looking to innovate for our students and staff with next generation technologies like Artificial Intelligence. In terms of technical skills, you'll need to have experience of developing enterprise-level systems already, with languages and frameworks such as C#, .NET, Java EE, jQuery, node.js, ReactJS and PL/SQL as well as an understanding of source code control and software design in Unified Modelling Language (UML).

Any experience and knowledge of working specifically with Agile Development will get you noticed in this process too because this world is becoming increasingly important to us - we already have Agile qualified Project & Service Managers so we're serious about this as our platform for change. Lastly, any familiarity you have with Higher Education and related management systems (such as Tribal SITS Student Records System) would be a bonus but in truth we're more interested in meeting innovators who are enthusiastic, creative and engaging.

We think this is a great opportunity, but only for the right person – don't expect to have the world mapped out for you because we're creating things as we go. You’ll need a strong work ethic, real commitment, a mindset that's built around agility and a desire to make a difference. Are you ready to be a top performer? In terms of application criteria we’d ideally like to see a good relevant first degree, but equally we’d also like to hear from people who may have equivalent working experience or qualifications.

Please upload your CV together with a covering letter setting out why we should consider you as our new Solutions Developer – how do you meet our criteria and what is it that sets you apart?Apply now for immediate consideration.
