Impact Translation Fellow in Catchment Monitoring and Mapping of Environmental Impacts (ENVGE1082)

Would you like to be part of an exciting research impact programme that aims to generate £50 million+ benefits to Yorkshire’s economy? Do you want to lead and manage projects that seek to achieve this aim by translating research to address catchment management issues, including flood and drought risk, water quality, climate resilience, soil and urban management? Are you educated to PhD level, or have equivalent experience, in a relevant science discipline such as geography, environment science or hydrology? Do you have experience of applying technology solutions to monitoring environmental parameters such as river flow, water quality, soil health, and biodiversity, and processing and presenting the data from such monitoring so that it informs practice?

Central to iCASP activity are several Impact Translation Fellows, who will lead on a diverse range of projects that are the engine of iCASP activity. Projects will be co-developed between academics and a diverse range of partner organisations. Working at the interface between academia and stakeholder organisations you will seek to solve problems facing industry and government in the broad area of catchment dynamics, including flooding, drought mitigation, water quality, agricultural resilience and carbon sequestration. As one of the Impact Translation Fellows with a background in monitoring and mapping environmental data, you would be focusing on projects that involve designing monitoring systems for a variety of catchment solutions so that appropriate information is gathered cost-effectively, and analysed and displayed in a user-friendly way, as well as projects that require producing mapping products as part of translating research so that it can be used by catchment users. This will require working closely with catchment scientists and with non-academic organisations.
