HUU is run by students who have been elected by their fellow students. These Student Officers listen to the problems students face individually or as groups and campaign for improvements – their aim is to ensure students studying at the University of Hull gain valuable life skills as well as the best education possible.

As our Education Co-ordinator, you would be responsible for the above in addition to co-ordinating the overall provision and development of HUU’s education-focused activities. You would be responsible for maintaining an awareness of educational issues within students’ unions, ensuring confidentiality and working in line with HUU policies and procedures. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, with the ability to work on your own initiative and under pressure. Excellent written and interpersonal skills, and a keen eye for detail are essential for this post.

Job Objective: Responsible for the overall implementation and development of HUU’s education-focused activities and academic representation.

Main Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Student Voice Manager, and working as part of the Student Voice and Opportunities team within HUU Membership Services, the main task of the post is to co-ordinate the implementation and development of HUU’s education-focused activities and academic representation.

The post holder will co-ordinate HUU’s existing system of course, subject and faculty representation, for two of the University’s four faculties, lead on the development and delivery of training for student representatives, provide support for key activities such as the successful Student-Led Teaching and Support Awards, analyse and report on feedback received from students throughout the year and develop appropriate action plans with colleagues and the Students’ Union President of Education. Occasional evening working during term-time may be required.

The post holder has a key role to play in working with both student representatives and the University to ensure that student views on their academic experience are heard.

The main responsibilities include:

Working with elected officers, staff and student volunteers to promote participation in, and the development and evaluation of, HUU’s education-focused activities.Ensuring that HUU’s education-focused activities are implemented and developed in a manner that is accessible, inclusive and meets the needs of all interested students.Ensuring that student volunteers and elected representatives are supported, and receive training relevant to their roles. Designing and delivering mandatory initial training for volunteers and elected representatives, and identifying and meeting additional training and skills development needs throughout the academic year.Undertaking relevant training for the role.Establishing and maintaining relationships with colleagues across HUU, the University and, where appropriate, external bodies to ensure the delivery of HUU’s education-focused activities.Undertaking a range of administrative tasks to ensure the development and delivery of HUU’s education-focused activities (including maintaining records, drafting marketing materials and note taking).Maintaining an awareness of educational issues and practice in Students’ Unions in order to build on good practice and identify trends.Ensuring confidentiality at all times in the handling and dissemination of information and data.Carrying out all duties in line with HUU’s policies and in line with the organisation’s values.Carrying out any other duties as may be required from time to time under the overall scope of the role.
