Clinical Senior Lecturer in Neurology (6780)

Background to the appointment

The Hull York Medical School wishes to appoint an outstanding clinical academic in Neuroscience at Senior Lecturer level. The successful applicant will join a vibrant Neuroscience centre and complement our current research strengths, which range from molecular, cellular and genetic systems through to brain dynamics and cognitive neuroscience allied to state-of-the-art neuroimaging facilities. The candidate will develop creative and sustainable independent research programmes, supported by external funding. This is a joint post with York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust where the clinical component of the role will be based.

The University of York has recently renewed its commitment to biomedical research. It has created a new Biomedical Research Institute to be launched this year in which this post will be based.

Main purpose of the role:

To develop and lead a funded programme of high-quality, independent research in Neuroscience.To enhance existing links between clinical and basic neuroscience research and develop new avenues for collaboration between Hull and York Universities and our partner hospitals.To take responsibility for overseeing, developing and promoting innovative teaching and learning approaches and material, which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students.To undertake effectively a range of administrative and managerial responsibilities. 

Key Requirements:

MD/Phd in Neuroscience or equivalent experience.MRCP (UK) or an equivalent qualification.On the General Medical Council (GMC) Special Register (either CCT, CESR or European Community Rights).Well-established national and international reputation in Neurology / Neuroscience research.Knowledge of medical education issues in relation to Neurological medicine.
