To commence from August 2018.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a joint institute with Beijing Jiao Tong University (BJTU). The campus is located close to Wei Hai in the eastern Shandong province and a major seaport, bordering Yantai to the west and the Yellow Sea to the east. The successful applicant will be based for the majority of time at Nan Hai with some time at Lancaster University or working remotely.There will be a housing provision for accommodation in China, medical cover and return flights included in the remuneration package.

The individual, appointed, will have the opportunity to teach on our English and Study Skills Course (ESSC), which is part of the Foundation Year and a four-year degree programme for Chinese students, leading to a dual award from both institutions. The ESSC consists of four modules, spread over two years. In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the on-going development of this new programme.

This crucial first year of the degree course will prepare Chinese students for entry into the second year of their chosen degree courses at the joint institute, where there are six pathways: Computing, Design, Engineering and Environmental Engineering, Accounting & Finance and Business Studies. 

Main duties of this role will be: to deliver student-centred classes incorporating opportunities for developing independent learning skills; to provide learner support; to evaluate learning through a range of assessment methods, and to keep up-to-date records as required by Lancaster University. 

Applicants should have TESOL/CELTA qualifications with recent experience of teaching English for Academic Purposes. Post graduate teaching qualifications (MA TESOL/ or DELTA) are highly desirable. Candidates will be expected to have tutorial experience; working in both large and small group settings. 

Experience of teaching international students, ideally Chinese students, plus proficiency in the use of interactive technologies is essential.Successful candidates must be available to commence in the role by this coming August/September.

The modules to be covered would be taught for up to 25 hours per week.
