Description :

To work on the EPSRC-funded project “Towards Ultimate Convergence of All Networks (TOUCAN)”.

The TOUCAN project seeks to address the ever-growing global demand for broadband communications and also connectivity for the so-called ‘Internet of Things (IoT)’. Lancaster, Edinburgh, Heriot-Watt and Bristol Universities will each be contributing unique research strengths alongside key industry partners in telecommunications and networking.  We aim to develop new network models that would focus on improved resource management and service composition, through programmability in the control and management planes; there will be an emphasis on the key properties of security and resilience, areas in which Lancaster has particular interests and strengths.  The partners will also develop the TOUCAN Lab, a unique, large-scale multi-technology experimental platform, to validate, refine and showcase the novel solutions developed in the project.

We invite applications from enthusiastic individuals with experience in relevant aspects of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or an appropriate, related discipline. The role will require you to engage with external partners and stakeholders, and therefore you should possess excellent communication skills with evidence of working effectively within a team.

The School of Computing and Communications offers a highly inclusive and stimulating environment for research career development. You will join an ambitious research group that is internationally recognised, and you will be expected to contribute to the already strong profile of the group by participation in the development and publication of research results.

This is a fixed term appointment until 10 August 2019 in the first instance, with a potential 6 months extension.  Informal enquiries please, to Dr Haris Rotsos, email: c.rotsos@lancaster.ac.uk

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
