Description :

The Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) is seeking to appoint a part-time (0.4 FTE) Postgraduate Research Coordinator who will support LEC’s Postgraduate Research (PGR) students within our Graduate School of the Environment. You are the first point of contact for our PGR students and work on activities including induction, appraisals, funding, events and viva examinations. You will be working in a job-share role in an office, which is the hub for all PGR students in LEC, and where also other administrators supporting externally funded PGR students on different projects work.

LEC is a large department with 160 PGR students, over 80 academic staff, 50 research staff and over 70 professional services staff. The PGR students work in research areas spanning natural- and social science and from theoretical to applied PhD projects. We have a vibrant research environment, which includes our PGR students.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be numerate, have excellent organisational, administrative and IT skills, be able to juggle a busy workload, and have an enthusiasm for the role. You will also be able to work effectively in a job-share role and within the wider team of PGR support staff.

We are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis. The department holds an Athena SWAN Bronze Award, which recognises and celebrates good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in Higher Education and research.

It is envisaged that the provisional working days are likely to be Tuesdays, Fridays and one other shorter day to be decided in order to allow for a face-to-face handover with the other job-share holder and have team meetings.

Informal enquiries about this post may be directed to Bitten Brigham, Departmental Administrator, b.brigham@lancaster.ac.uk , 01524 510288.

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
