The University is proud of the impact of its research, with our researchers tackling some of society’s most pressing challenges. We work in partnership with industry and other organisations across a broad range of collaborations, enabling the translation of research outputs into policies, products and services of benefit to business and society at large.   

Research and Innovation Services is now recruiting a number of Business Engagement Manager posts to support research community with the development and delivery of new partnerships and research collaborations with both existing and new business partners, seeking to maximise joint value across research, education and enterprise.  These posts are contributing to a new Knowledge Exchange function in the Technology Transfer and Impact Programmes team. Whilst the posts are initially fixed term there is significant potential for extension subject to University securing renewal of funding. 

Business Engagement Manager (Economics & Social Sciences Research Council research) – 1 FTE fixed term until 31st March 2019Business Engagement Manager (SMEs and Scale Ups) – 1 FTE fixed term until 31st March 2021 (separate Job Description below)

You will be driving a wide-ranging portfolio of projects designed to deliver the University’s research and enterprise strategy and maximise interactions between the University and business partners particularly SMEs. Commercially astute and technologically aware, you will work with world-class researchers and global partners to help shape the relationships, secure the funding, and develop strong mutually beneficial partnerships.  You will engage with world leaders in research and industry and project manage a significant portfolio of opportunities with multiple business partners. 

You will have strong commercial flair and excellent communication skills, be well-organised with the ability to multi-task and to work well as part of a virtual team. You will be a self-starter and enjoy the challenge of making things happen in a fast-moving environment.  If you have a skill level equivalent to achievement of a professional qualification or postgraduate degree (preferably in science/engineering/social science or similar) qualification with a proven track record of networking and building strong partnerships then we would like to hear from you.
