The Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), based at Southampton General Hospital, manages a growing portfolio of multi-centre clinical trials that will directly influence routine clinical practice.   

We currently have a vacancy for a Trial Coordinator or Trial Manager to join the existing team to work on one or more trials, with particular emphasis on monitoring.  The successful candidate will be appointed to the relevant role dependent on experience and qualifications.  This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a CTU which has full registration status from the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC). Dependent on experience and qualifications, the successful candidate will be appointed to one of the two job descriptions: Trial Coordinator £24,285 - £28,936 or Trial Manager £29,799 - £36,613.

The successful applicant must have excellent English communication skills, have knowledge of medical or medical research terminology and experience of working in a busy office environment.  They will ideally have previous experience of working on clinical trials within the NHS or commercial health research sector, and an understanding of GCP and clinical trial regulations, although full training will be given to the right candidate. A willingness to travel within the UK is also required. 

The employing organisation is the University of Southampton which offers a competitive salary, pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, and other benefits.  The post is offered on a one year fixed term contract in the first instance with the possibility of an extension. Full time post but part time may be considered. 

The CTU is part of a strong research environment in Southampton which includes the Cancer Research UK Clinical Centre, Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility and strong NHS R&D Management.
