Description :

An opportunity has arisen within the University’s Skills Centre for a part-time (0.3 fte/10.95 hours per week) Teaching Fellow to teach the history units of the Centre’s British Studies programme.  The British Studies programme offers history, literature and linguistics units to Mobility (visiting and exchange) students to support the University’s exchange programmes with EU and international universities.

Teaching responsibilities will include devising and delivering a combination of lectures and seminars for the four history units, with two units offered per semester; ensuring the good quality of teaching materials; setting and marking assignments for these core, credit bearing units; using Moodle (the University’s VLE) to supplement the classes; and undertaking some associated administration, including writing a brief report.

Descriptions of the four units can be found in the University’s Catalogue of units for visiting students: http://www.bath.ac.uk/catalogues/2018-2019/el/UXXX-AFN98.html

Applicants should hold a postgraduate qualification related to teaching or equivalent and a history degree or evidence of a solid background in the study of history. This should be further supported by proven knowledge and experience of teaching and assessment in a higher education context, ideally with native and non-native speaker students.

The post-holder must be a strong team player and also able to work on his/her own initiative within a dynamic and demanding environment. A track record in the delivery of a high quality student learning experience is essential, as is evidence of experience in the development of teaching and assessment material.
