Description :

Cognitive-Behaviour Therapist for the University of Bath/AWP NHS Trust Centre for the Specialist Psychological Treatment of Anxiety and Related Problems. AFC Band 8b or University Equivalent

We are seeking a committed Cognitive-Behavioural Therapist (Clinical Psychologist or CBT therapist) to join and help co-ordinate our Psychological Treatment Centre, which concentrates on treating anxiety-related problems. Typically, patients we see have previously accessed local services but the treatment they have been offered has not helped, or not in a lasting way. We offer psychological therapies recommended by the NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) guidelines for their main presenting problem, but it is in the nature of our referrals that other strategies often have to be deployed flexibly and systematically.

The clinic is located in new, purpose built accommodation, although much of the work is carried out on an outreach basis. Currently clinicians are staff from our highly successful DClinPsy programme (level 2 BABCP and Intermediate AFT accredited) within the Department of Psychology at the University of Bath. The Department was placed second in the country in The Complete University Guide, The Times Good University Guide 2016, and 1st in the Guardian 2018. More information about the Department can be found at http://www.bath.ac.uk/psychology/.

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated Scientist Practitioner with considerable knowledge and expertise in the delivery of CBT for anxiety problems including OCD, will be accredited or accreditable by the BABCP. Supervision and other support will be integral to the post. This post is available part-time, 2 days per week (.4FTE), on 1-year fixed term or secondment.

Informal enquiries can be directed to the Clinic Lead, Dr Louise Barbour (L.L.Waddington@bath.ac.uk) or to Dr James Gregory (J.D.Gregory@bath.ac.uk; 01225 386120).

The University of Bath has a bronze award from the Athena SWAN Charter Scheme. Both the Department and the University are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment.
