This permanent, full-time role is a unique opportunity for an outstanding individual to contribute to the strategic direction of the institution in collaboration with the Principal and senior management. The Vice Principal (Music) will provide academic and operational leadership, manage the resources associated with academic provision and develop innovative pedagogic strategies, all the while ensuring a high-quality student experience. This is a significant role in the context of UK higher music education. Candidates will have substantial experience as academic leaders and managers in the area of professional music training, and extensive knowledge of the conservatoire sector and the music industry. Led by internationally acclaimed musician Julian Lloyd Webber, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is a world class institution providing exceptional training in music and acting. Part of Birmingham City University and with a rich history dating back to 1886, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire moved in September 2017 to a new state-of-the-art, purpose-built £57 million home which has set a new benchmark for professional music training in the UK.  The new Conservatoire has five public performance spaces, seven recording studios, and more than one hundred practice and teaching rooms. Royal Birmingham Conservatoire has around 700 undergraduate, postgraduate and research students, and a thriving Junior Conservatoire. It offers music degrees in Composition, Performance, Jazz, Music Technology and Musicology, and enjoys more than 70 formal partnerships with some of the world’s most prestigious performing arts institutions.
