Head of Admissions (061418)

The University of Surrey is seeking to appoint a new Head of Admissions to join the Student Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions (SMRA) Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established, experienced and productive team. The role holder will be expected to both lead and manage the centralised admissions and enquiries team consisting of over forty staff. In addition, the post holder is responsible for the development of admissions systems, policies and processes which will ensure that Surrey continues to offer applicants an outstanding admissions experience.

Reporting to the Director of Student Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions, the Head of Admissions will be accountable for the determination and implementation of institutional policy in relation to admissions practice across the university.  The role holder will regularly liaise with a range of stakeholders to ensure all systems developed are optimally configured for the University.

The role holder will also be responsible for managing and delivering assigned activities to time and budget, adjusting priorities to meet deadlines and responding to changing circumstances and managing the busy and conflicting demands of the admissions cycle. Working alongside colleagues in the International and UK recruitment teams, Student Marketing and Market Insight teams, the role holder will ensure relevant admissions information and statistics are shared and communicated at all times.

We are seeking to recruit an individual who is an experienced manager and admissions practitioner. Ideally applicants should have detailed knowledge of a student database system and experience of process improvement in relation to an HE environment. The role holder should possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability to network both internally and externally to ensure the institution is kept informed of national admissions developments is vitally important.
