About the Role

Commercial Services are looking to recruit three temporary Site Services Assistants who will help to deliver business goals and provide the very best service to UoH students. As a Site Services Assistant within Westfield Court, you will be responsible for maintaining a fire response, security, porter and cleaning service to students, staff and guests of the University.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the Post

Carrying out porterage duties as required, involving the relocation of equipment and furniture, assisting with room moves, etc.Carrying out internal and external patrols across the site, ensuring the premises and buildings are secure.Keeping the grounds tidy, free from litter (including refuse removal).Ensuring that all alarm systems are activated at the appropriate times, including weekly alarm testing.Assisting with the identification, initial investigation and reporting of student misconduct to enable the Student Misconduct Officer to follow the misconduct process.Monitoring and reporting faults, defects and damage; Health and Safety hazards, etc. which are identified during the course of carrying out normal duties.Assisting with general duties such as; dealing with resident enquiries, issuing and receiving keys, taking cash/credit card payments, answering the telephone, etc.To be a designated Fire Warden and first aider, and be responsible for the evacuation of staff, students and visitors from all buildings in the event of an emergency. Appropriate training will be provided where necessary.Covering a large area on foot and responding quickly to incidents across the campus. Climbing several flights of stairs within a required timeframe and conducting emergency procedures upon completion. These requirements will be determined by a physical test at interview stage, and more information on the requirements can be found in the job description.Whilst initially based in Westfield Court, the post holder may be required to work at other Commercial Services’ units when necessary, and will maintain a high standard of customer care to meet the need of its customers.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to perform all of the above-listed duties.The successful candidate will be required to work as an individual and as part of a team, and will need to be flexible with regards to hours of work to support business needs.  Experience of working in a similar environment is advantageous although not essential, as appropriate support and training will be given.

Working Pattern

The three positions are temporary and full-time (36.5hrs), and the successful applicants will be expected to work five days out of seven on shifts.

Early Shift              8:00am – 4:00pmLate Shift               4:00pm – 12:00am Night Shift             12:00am – 8:00am
