Description :

The School of Sociology and Social Policy (SSP) is a vibrant, diverse and exciting centre for social science teaching and research. We are a multidisciplinary unit covering criminology, public policy, social policy, social work and sociology. Cutting across these disciplinary boundaries are two shared values:the promotion of global and social justice and a desire in our teaching and research to ‘make a difference’.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a background in Criminology to join an expanding team in the School of Sociology and Social Policy. The role holder is expected to make a significant contribution to research and teaching in Criminology taking responsibility for the quality of educational programmes and identifying opportunities for the development of new opportunities for research, working towards a high quality submission to the REF 2021. The person appointed will also be expected to play an active part in the School more generally, for example by taking on an administrative role in relation to research and/or teaching. With an existing MA in Criminology and the launch of a new BA Criminology in September 2018 the successful candidate will be involved in the development and delivery of core and elective modules in criminology at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

We welcome applications from candidates with a PhD in Criminology or related subject area with an excellent broad knowledge of criminological theory, issues and debates, and a strong background in delivering educational programmes in criminology at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Please note shortlisting will take place by the 17 September with the interview date is set for 25 September 2018.

This permanent post is a full-time, however we will accept applications from candidates wishing to work part-time, to a minimum of (29 hours per week). Please state your preference on the application.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Nicola Carr (Nicola.Carr@nottingham.ac.uk). Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
