Applications are invited to the above roles to support the Principal Investigator (Dr Mary O'Connell) and her Research Group in developing research objectives and proposals and conducting research in the area of Computational Evolutionary Genomics. The post holders will be expected to undertake their specific research project as well as working as part of a team, this will include using approaches or methodologies and techniques appropriate to the type of research, as well as developing software and new methods. The post holders will be responsible for writing up their work in order to contribute to published outcomes.

The role holders will have the opportunity to use their initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods and extend their research portfolio.

Candidates must hold a PhD or be near to the completion of a PhD or studying towards a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area and be proficient in at least one programming language e.g. Python, C, Java.

Candidates must have excellent skills and knowledge of Molecular Evolution and Phylogenomics as well as being able to demonstrate evidence of developing research skills with the ability to creatively apply relevant research approaches, models, techniques and methods.

The ability to contribute to method improvement and facilitate conceptual thinking, innovation and creativity is key to this role.

These full-time, fixed- term posts are available from 1st September 2018 to 1st September 2020. Job share arrangements may be considered.
