The Department of Economics at the University of Bath is seeking to appoint a Reader/Senior Lecturer in any area of Economics. Readers/Senior Lecturers are equivalent to tenured Associate Professors.

We invite applications from all fields, but have particular teaching needs in Applied (Micro-) Econometrics and Macroeconomics/Finance. Essential criteria for Reader and Senior Lecturer candidates are: (i) a strong record in publishing high quality research and engagement with research grants and/or contracts; (ii) a broad teaching portfolio; (iii) the ability to play a leading role in one or more of our five dynamic research groups (see below) and to make active contributions to our specialist research themes (Innovation and Productivity, Governance of Systems and Institutions, Social Determinants of Health, and Sustainable Living). In addition, candidates for Reader are expected to have successfully attracted research grants/contracts as Principal or Co-Investigator at a funding level appropriate to the discipline, possibly in collaboration with other Universities or organisations. All candidates are expected to deliver high quality teaching, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, and to attract and successfully supervise PhD students.

We are a growing department of currently 38 full-time academics, with five dynamic research groups in: (I) Macroeconomics and Finance (II) Econometrics, (III) Economic Theory, (IV) Public and Environmental Economics, and (V) Labour/Education/Health Economics. We attract high quality undergraduate and postgraduate students to an extensive range of programmes. Our research activities inform students’ learning and encourage the interaction between academia and the wider society both in terms of policy formulation and outcome evaluation and knowledge transfer to businesses and public organisations. The University of Bath is located above the UNESCO world heritage city of Bath 115 miles west of London.
