The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) is the largest of the three Faculties at the University comprising nine Schools and Departments: Economics, Guildford School of Acting, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Music and Media, Law, Literature and Languages, Politics, Sociology and the Surrey Business School.

We are currently seeking a proactive, self-motivated and highly organised individual to provide professional administrative support to the Head and members of the Department of Politics. The Department of Politics has a growing student body and a highly collegial community of academic and professional staff. The successful candidate will therefore join a dynamic and lively department.

Possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills, you will have previous experience of working in an administrative environment and ideally experience of working in the Higher Education sector.

It is essential that you have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. You will demonstrate confidentiality, excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to work on your own initiative. Organisation, planning and attention to detail are key requirements for this position. Experience of minute taking is essential as the post holder will be required to service Department meetings.

Working in a busy, people focused environment, the post holder will act as a key point of contact for academic staff, students and visitors and must be able to demonstrate a high level of customer service.
