Description :

The Surrey Clinical Research Centre is at the cornerstone of the University of Surrey’s world-class research profile, supporting ground breaking academic research. The Centre is one of only two non-commercial centres to achieve MHRA Phase 1 Supplementary Accreditation which also enables us to undertake pioneering clinical trials with compounds at all levels of risk. Furthermore, it demonstrates the quality of our work which is underpinned by a team of dedicated and passionate staff.

We are looking to recruit a Laboratory Manager for a fixed-term of 9 months to provide maternity cover, starting mid-September 2018. The post holder will manage all aspects of laboratory activity for our onsite clinical research sample preparation laboratory. The Laboratory Manager will work within the Clinical Research Team and with project team members and external clients to provide guidance throughout all stages of the clinical phase of research studies in relation to human biological sample collection, processing, storage and shipment. The post holder will carry out duties to ensure that regulatory requirements are met and that work is carried out in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), laws and guidelines. This may be through the review and development of study protocols and study documents, staff training and competencies, writing and reviewing SOPs and conducting health & safety inspections and risk assessments. The post holder will work closely with study team members to ensure the smooth set-up and running of clinical studies. Strong organisational, communication and decision-making skills and an exceptional attention to detail are key elements of the role. Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be able to work with penicillin and be willing to have the Hepatitis B vaccination.

As an employee of the University, you will receive a generous annual leave entitlement, childcare assistance, relocation assistance where appropriate, and access to world-class leisure facilities.
