Our Residential Advisors provide valuable support to our new students living in halls of residence across all campus areas. As an existing member of staff at the university, you will live in one of the halls of the residence and will work on a rota basis to be on call overnight between 7.30pm and 7.30am.
You will have high standards of customer service and will work as part of a small team who provide an overnight response service to our students. Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills are essential to this role, as is the ability to deal calmly with emergencies and potentially difficult situations.
You will also need a working knowledge of safe working practices, including health and safety legislation.
Key elements of the role include;
providing a first-line response for student welfare issues and critical incidents
supporting students who are homesick or struggling to settle into university life
advising/signposting students to other support services within the university
helping to resolve difficulties experienced by students in their accommodation
working with other residences teams to create a sense of community within the halls of residence and promoting equality and diversity
Accommodation in the halls of residence will be provided to successful candidates and an allowance of £2,314 per annum is paid.
