We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Research Support team in the School of Mathematical Sciences. You will work together with the Research and Business Development Manager and the Impact Officer to ensure effective support is provided to academic and research staff in applying for, and managing, research grants.

In particular, you will:

Help to manage two large grants – one led by Professor I Fesenko working with collaborators in Oxford, the other a doctoral training programme led by Professor M OwenAct as the main administrative point of contact for these grants, as well as managing the project budgets, organising events and coordinating activities, reporting to the funders as required, and resolving queries.Support research events more generally, and deal with queries and reporting on active projectsProvide financial management expertise, as well as general organisational skill, to ensure efficient delivery of project objectivesSupport applications from the School under £100,000 in value. This mostly involves checking documents against eligibility and formatting requirements, as well as offering advice on language style and structureUndertake varied other tasks including purchasing, composing letters, organising and facilitating meetings, managing an Access database, maintaining accurate records of grant submissions, processing and approving expenses claims and developing new team process documentation

And you will bring:

A drive and willingness to take the initiative in process improvementsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAttention to detail and the ability to multi-taskA positive attitude to building and maintaining professional relationships with team members and customers

Relevant administrative and financial management experience, or equivalent qualifications as noted in the Role Profile Form, are essential. Experience in research management would be beneficial but it is more important that you have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and are willing to both learn and contribute to process improvements in the School.
